Cofradía de Nuestra Señora del Carmen (Carmelitas)

You are invited to join La Cofradía de Nuestra Señora del Carmen (teenagers, young women and adult women). Please join us in praying traditional prayers (in Spanish), songs and Rosary (Misterios Gloriosos). We meet first Sundays at La Capilla de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Santa Cruz, New Mexico at 10:00 am.

La Cofradía de Nuestra Señora del Carmen was founded in 1710 and paticipates in Church and community fundraisers. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Feast Day is celebrated on July 16th with procession to and mass at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada.

The Carmelitas and the Penitentes Sociedades were formed so that they could continue to pray for the people of their communities when the priest needed to travel. Both the Camelitas and the Penitentes pray the Rosary during religious holidays and Lent.

The nine days before Our Lady of Mount Carmel Feast Day, Las Carmelitas gather at the Capilla and pray the Novena. Please join us.
