We’re delighted to welcome you to Mass at our parish! Whether you’re visiting for the first time, a returning Catholic, or a long-time member, these simple guidelines will help you fully participate in the sacred celebration of the Eucharist.
Preparing for Mass
- Arrive early: Arriving a few minutes before Mass allows you to settle in and prepare your heart for worship.
- Genuflect or bow: Upon entering the church, genuflect toward the Tabernacle if it is visible; if you have difficulty, a reverent bow is appropriate.
Dress Respectfully
We encourage all attendees to wear clothing that is modest, comfortable, and not distracting:
- Everyone: Clothing should reflect that we are in a house of God; avoid form-fitting clothing, and words or images that are inappropriate or distracting. Remove hats inside.
- Men: Avoid tank tops, very tight clothing, or sleeveless shirts.
- Women: Avoid low-cut tops, dresses or skirts that rise above the knee when sitting, and form-fitting clothing. Sleeveless or off-the-shoulder tops are fine if modestly styled; a shawl can help cover shoulders if desired.
The bottom line is that we can wear our Sunday best without being a needless distraction to our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Etiquette & Consideration
- Phones: Turn them off or set to silent before Mass.
- Children: They are always welcome.
Why This Matters
These guidelines help create a reverent and prayerful environment for everyone, allowing all parishioners—newcomers and long-time members—to focus on the sacred mysteries we celebrate together. By observing these simple norms, we honor God and respect our parish family.
